01

What is Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry is a branch of dental care dedicated to repairing damaged or unhealthy teeth, aiming to restore your child’s smile to its natural brilliance and strength.

The objective is to not only enhance the appearance of your child’s teeth but also to improve their functionality, enabling them to eat, speak, and laugh comfortably and confidently.

02

What Are
the Benefits
of Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry prevents small issues from becoming big problems, saving you time and money in the long run. The benefits of restorative dentistry include:

Improved chewing

Beautiful appearance

Good oral health

Strong teeth

Durability

Pain relief

For kids and teenagers, this means they can enjoy their favorite foods, communicate clearly, and be confident in their smiles. Restorative treatments also play a vital role in overall oral health, which is important for general well-being.

03

At What Age Can
My Child Undergo
Restorative Dental Procedures?

Restorative procedures are generally avoided for children under 1 year old unless absolutely necessary. Once your child is a toddler, from 12 months to 36 months old, regular dental treatments become safe and doable.

What Restorative
Dental Options
Do We Offer?

We offer composite resin fillings, pulp therapy, crowns, and non-invasive alternatives such as hall crowns and SDF (silver diamine fluoride). We also provide dental extractions.

Composite Resin Fillings

Composite resin fillings are a tooth-colored material used to fix cavities. They blend in perfectly with the tooth, so it’s like the cavity was never there.

They’re made from a mixture that’s safe for kids and strong enough to handle all the chewing and biting a tooth needs to do. Plus, they’re quick to apply.

Pulp Therapy

Pulp therapy is a treatment we use to save and heal your child’s tooth when the inner part, called the pulp, is damaged or infected.

We will clean out the damaged pulp, disinfect the space, and fill it up to keep the tooth strong and healthy.

Crowns

Crowns are protective caps placed over damaged or weakened teeth. They restore the tooth’s shape, size, and strength, shield it from further damage, and improve its appearance.

We offer stainless steel (silver) and zirconia (white crowns). The doctor will discuss the best options for you and your child.

Non-Invasive Alternatives

Sometimes, we must consider gentler approaches to dental care. Hall crowns and SDF offer great results without the need for drills or discomfort.

Hall Crowns

This method involves placing a pre-made crown over the tooth to protect it from further decay. It’s a delicate approach that doesn’t require removing tooth structure or using anesthesia.

This treatment is quick, efficient, and, most importantly, pain-free.

SDF

SDF, or Silver Diamine Fluoride, is a liquid solution we apply directly to cavities to stop decay without any drilling. It works by killing the bacteria that cause decay and strengthening the tooth enamel to prevent future cavities.

It’s painless and highly effective, especially in the early stages of decay.

05

Dental
Extractions

Sometimes, we must remove a tooth that’s too damaged or decayed to be fixed. We consider this procedure only when absolutely necessary – usually, if a tooth can cause more harm than good if it’s left in place.

After the tooth is removed, we’ll talk about ways to hold the space to ensure the rest of the teeth erupt nicely.
